I
haven't heard from
Eric. Either he stood
me up last night or
even worse-- he didn't.
Either
way it doesn't look
good.
Damn!
This is so unfair.
Am I destined to be
alone for the rest
of my days? How can
a big fat loser like
Jenny (although she
is my friend and I
love her to death)
get dates while I,
who have so much to
give must perish alone.
Alone. It stinks!
From
the three emails we
exchanged I really
felt that Eric and
I had forged a bond.
I knew down the road
some sacrifices would
probably be in order.
I'd have to give up
my job when we got
married for one. OK,
maybe that's not much
of a sacrifice because
I hate it, but I would
have to give the impression
that it was a sacrifice
so that we could have
a housekeeper. I would
probably have to do
a lot of entertaining
and I'm sure Eric
would work long hours,
but that means I would
finally have time
to finish my book.
Oh
God, my book! For
some reason every
time I think of it
I feel a bit ill.
I just don't seem
to have the time these
days what with work
and home and TV and
stuff.
I
have to put it on
hold because of all
the stress right now.
Writers can't work
when they are stressed
they need a clean
slate, an orderly
home and a good mate.

I
spoke to Irene this
morning and we are
both concerned about
Jenny. She said that
Jenny's behaviour
could be excused in
the early days of
her breakup but now
she's acting like
a boy crazy '50's
teenager. Irene has
been trying to get
Jenny to go back to
school or take up
an interest but all
Jenny wants to do
is find a new boyfriend.
I'm
surprised at Jenny.
It's hard to believe
that in this day and
age a reasonably attractive
and fairly intelligent
woman feels that she
needs a man in order
to be complete.
As
her friends, Irene
and I really need
to sort her out. We
can't let her sabotage
herself, women do
that too often and
I don't know why we
can't all come together
and work for and with
each other. We agreed
that we have to save
her from herself.
Then
we talked about how
she's showing her
age and how slutty
she has been dressing.

I
got another response
to my ad:
I saw your personal
ad and I just HAD
to write! I'm 35 years
old, and a model.
I have degrees in
mathematics and literature,
and am pursuing a
Masters in sky-diving.
I've been looking
for a girl just like
you all my life! Please,
make my dreams come
true by writing me
back! Stanley
Wow!
OK. He's got everything
I want. He's just
the right age, he's
a MODEL, he is educated
and not in that dopey
I-studied-philosophy-why-can't-I-get-a-job
way and he is a MODEL.
The Masters in sky-diving--
maybe that's a typo
but he sounds enthusiastic,
romantic (make
my dreams come true)
and upbeat and he
is a MODEL!

I
spoke to Jenny and
she said this guy
sounds amazing. She
told me I should get
a picture because
let's face it, anyone
could say they're
a model-but if the
picture turns out
to be gorgeous then
anything else he says
must be true.
She
asked me if I would
do her a favour. She
met this guy last
night that she thinks
is OK and he asked
if she could get a
date for his friend.
After the last disaster
with that Seinfeld
clone I didn't want
to waste another evening
but she was so enthusiastic
about Stanley that
I felt bad saying
no. I said I would
go, but if the guy
turned out to be a
creep I would suddenly
be called away. I
told her to tell him
I was a doctor. That
way it would make
sense if I got an
emergency call.
She
said "why not,
my guy thinks I'm
a hand model!"
(Poor Jenny she never
dreams big.)
I'm
kind of looking forward
to it. It'll be good
for a laugh anyway.
I've
emailed Stanley and
asked him to send
me a photo.

I
am sooooo happy. Last
night was the most
wonderful night I've
had in ages!
We
met at Vesuvios and
I don't know what
I was expecting but
I wasn't expecting
Jeff. Oh my God! He's
not goodlooking in
the Brad Pitt/George
Clooney kind of way,
he has more of a lived
in look. His hair
is black and curly
and he has the brownest
eyes I've ever seen.
He is about six foot
even, with a very
dignified build. Very
quiet with a silent
kind of laugh but
his eyes are always
alert.
Oh,
my God. We hit it
off immediately. There
were a few uncomfortable
moments like when
he asked me what my
specialty was. I thought
he meant sexually
(that what hanging
around with toxic
people like Simon
does to you) and I
was put off but when
Jenny kicked me I
realized he was talking
about medicine.
I
panicked and told
him I was a gynecologist,
which was smart because
he didn't ask any
more questions. Jenny's
date Tim of course
had to be a big buttinsky.
He started asking
a lot of questions
but luckily I was
able to get out of
answering them by
saying I like to leave
the office at home.
After
dinner the four of
us took a stroll in
Edward's Gardens.
It was soooooooooooooooo
romantic. It was pretty
mild out and the rustle
of the leaves, the
moonlight.....oooooh
God!
Jenny
went off with Tim
and Jeff and I made
out in a gazebo.
I'm
seeing him Saturday
afternoon and I can
hardly wait. This
was the best night
I've ever had!!!!!
Thanks
to L.Ekelle for the
the personal ad!
New to Jenna's Diary?
You are probably thinking"Say, I'll never catch up, so there's no point starting now."
Well that's not true, Jenna can't follow a thought for more than a second so you won't be missing a thing. (And quite frankly that attitude is the reason you are not a neurosurgeon.)
