Thank
you for your recent submission of excerpts of your upcoming book.
As you know, we pride ourselves on our ability to discover and
assist upcoming authors. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept
your submission at this time.
While
the idea of a sophisticated urban woman struggling in the world
was interesting, the sudden switches between drama and neo-drama-parody
were not particularly effective. Perhaps your intention was to
create a new art form, the meta-neo-drama-parody-parody; if so,
we recommend a rewrite. While the Jayde character could've been
interesting, the bizarre secondary characters, such as the hobo
who lived under the porch and reminded Jayde of her mother's fiancé
were a bit over the edge and would be more appropriate for a children's
book.
While
we maintain a staff of editors who are happy to assist first-time
authors with their work, we feel that we need more to work with
than you have presented to us. Once you have made further progress
on your effort, please feel free to submit your work again.
